rules of competition
Professional coxes serve in each boat during the race and each boat races within the track setup on the water.
Each team consists of 16 rowers and one drummer. Each team must include at least 4 male or female rowers.
Each team must compete in 2 races at least, 3 races at most. The eliminated team doesn't leave the competition, but continues to race in a lower category.
In the first rounds of competition the teams compete against time, then they are categorized in 4 groups and races are held within these categories. Categories are defined as Sport, Fun Sport, Fun and FunFun.
The elimination rounds are held on Saturday, the finals on Sunday. |

the characteristics of the competition and rules
During the IDBF(International Dragon Boat Competition) supervised competitions, official federation referees are present and internationally standardized technical equipment as well as safety precautions are implemented.
The race starts with the signal of the starting referee after the boats are aligned on the same line on a 250 meters long track. The teams race on the albano system racecourse set up on the water.
* The goal of each team is to perform best in its series and to qualify to compete in higher series.
* The teams compete in the qualifying series in groups of 6 and every seven minutes. The final series are organized in groups of 10.
* There are no preliminary elimination rules to participate.
* Professional athletes and teams that have trained excessively cannot participate at the competition.

* In this sport in which the most important factors are synchronous action and technique, perfect solidarity alone can bring success for the team. Therefore, the greatest organizational benefit arises from the concept of solidarity.
* The dragon boat races which are a social sport are raced as a team, thus they increase the importance of team spirit.
* The Dragon Festival is an organization of tolerance, friendship and fairness.
* A team can consist of members ranging from the top administraton of the institution to the lowest echelon.
* It is a fair competition for executives where they can experience "team thinking" with their crews.
* Tents with shade at the size of 3X3 meters will be allotted for each team where they will be able to display visual items such as flags and banners.
* Participant institutions can request additional tents.
* During races the boats of institutions will display flags to be provided by the festival organization.
* Institutions are allowed to distribute their informative and promotional documents and items on the festival ground.
* Each institution can participate at the festival with as many boats and teams as they wish to.

health and security
* All contestants must wear life jackets during races.
* Each race is supervised by rapid rescue boats and professional sea security teams.
* Medical tent and ambulances are ready on the shore at all times throughout the festival.
* Each individual contestant and team participating at the festival is insured by the festival organization.
* The festival is hosted with the participation of observers from International Dragonboat Federation (IDBF) and international security measures are implemented with the help of the observers.
* The perimeter of the festival ground is surrounded with safety barriers and maintained by professional security personnel to prevent non-invited people from entering the festival ground.
* Land security will serve on the festival ground at all times. Professional security personnel will be stationed at three separate entry points to and around the festival ground.
* Dak-sar team with 2 fully equipped Zodiac boats will be present at the race site.
* 3 pursuit boats and 2 jet ski teams are responsible for the safety of races.
