The Dragon Festival started approximately 2000 years ago in China with a legend and became popular especially in Europe as well as United States and Canada in 1980s. The sport was modernized while it made its transition from the Far East to the West and became an activity mostly engaged in by organizations.                                              The dragon boat races are as popular and common in the Far East as football is in Europe. The dragon boat competition which is a very dynamic team sport made its way to Turkey after conquering the world. Dragon festivals continue to be hosted in big cities around the world and to attract large crowds. 
Dragon boat festivals at which executives and employees alike of hundreds of organizations compete together are held worldwide especially in cities such as New York, Hong Kong and Frankfurt.
